Summary
Located on a slope of the mountain which surrounds the historical village of Kandanos, this villa is an ideal getaway all year long. It offers a luxury experience in complete harmony with nature and the traditional spirit of the famous small villages of Western Crete. It’s a modern two-stored mansion located in a private land of 2.000 m2, maintaining the traditional architectural features, both inside and outside, while offering contemporary facilities to its guests.

The space
The villa consists of ground and first floor. On entering the villa through a wooden door, you will find a large dining area with a fireplace and a fully equipped kitchen (electric hobs, electric oven, fridge/freezer, microwave, filter coffee machine, dishwasher) and a small table for breakfast. There are also one classic room with two single beds which can be placed together as a double bed with en suite bathroom, one double and one twin bedroom, two more bathrooms and a small kitchenette with freeze and tab in first floor. There are roofed patio and veranda with a breathtaking beautiful hillside view of the area. In the cozy sitting room, you will find lot of comfort, tranquility and space to relax in front of the main fireplace, reading a good book or enjoying a movie in the screen. In the courtyard, within a hillside view, it’s a perfect place to simply sit back under the huge old oak tree and enjoy the absolute silence and the peaceful nature and its magic during day and the starry sky during night, depending on the season. There is also one very small elevator for one or two persons serving the ground and the first floor. To reach the ground floor you need to step few steps.

Location
Kandanos, Greece
The villa is situated at Kavallariana settlement, at Apopigadi mountain, about 1.5km away from the historical beautiful village of Kandanos, at distance of some 62km (38,5miles) west – south of city of Chania Crete. Chania airport is located at a distance of 15km (9,3miles,10 min drive) from city of Chania and 77km (49 miles, 1hr drive) from the villa. The view of the hillsides is breathtaking, and the surrounding area is dominated mostly by olive, oaks and cypress trees. The location is an excellent starting point for day trips: At Kavallariana visit the church of Archangel Michael also known as Astratigos. The church is very simple exterior as almost all the churches of West Crete. However, inside the church, the scenery changes dramatically by the rich frescoes covering every wall of the temple. The painting took place during Venetian Era Occupation. Many Byzantine churches and monasteries are found in the region around Kandanos and most of them date from the 14th and 15th century. Meet an entire park of monumental olive trees (olive tree of Saint George has a trunk diameter of 6.85m and a circumference of 18.27m at its base). The Gorge of Kandanos is a place of exquisite naturalistic and historical importance. Moreover the canyon is still crossed by the wonderful stone road that headed to Chania, built by the local people (end of 1920s). The road is an excellent sample of preindustrial construction. 

Walk or drive to visit Kandanos (1,5km from the villa) and see the famous and unique in Europe World War II memorial monument. Enjoy the seaside and the sandy beaches of beautiful and charming fishing village of Paleochora (15km, 9,3miles), Sougia (25km, 15,5miles) and Elafonisi (20km, 12,5miles). 

The residence is available for short or long term leasing and offers the following amenities and services: telephone, Wi-Fi internet, Hot water, fully equipped kitchen, bed linen sheets and towels available, hairdryer and soap for personal care and toilet paper, Bathroom with shower and WC bathroom with bathtub and WC, fireplace (1), Barbecue and outdoor furniture. Firewood is provided on request, and is paid for according to consumption. Cleaning clothes (on request with extra charge).

Getting around
A (rental from Chania) car is necessary. Free and safe Parking in the private area around the villa.
